This postcard shows an image that was taken in Cuba. It shows a man standing on one of the sea walls that protect the city of Havana. I took this image as part of a project for A-level Photography at school. I was fulfilling the assignment to capture something to do with ‘Work’. The completed project showed a comparison between the working culture of the developing countries and the developed countries that I visited during the assignment window. I chose this image to represent the donations to the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering. I discovered this charity during the most recent ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, and it is particularly relevant to me because I am a black woman following an engineering degree and hope to help other young women and men in Black/African American, Native/American Indian, Latinx/Hispanic American and other minorities do the same in the future. You can find out more about them on their website, but especially as a young black woman myself, I know how important it is that the potential that we have is encouraged and developed with tools and resources such as those which are offered by this charity. Would you like to see more images from this project? Please have a look at my Cuba portfolio.
